We got a chance to work with one, and these are some of our initial notes and impressions: The 6-color device has USB, serial and parallel ports, and all three are simultaneously active. We were able to use this capability to connect to the printer via our blue G3 (USB) and our PowerTower Pro (serial). The Photo 750 has a smaller dot size than that of its predecessor, the Stylus Photo 700, which, in conjunction with the six inks, translates into even finer tonal gradations when printing images. The print quality of the Photo 750 is nothing short of amazing when printing photos on the Epson coated papers. The smaller dot size, combined with the six inks, provides close to continuous-tone output. In places where previous Epson photo printers would show dots, the Photo 750 has none. Plain paper output is very good, but it doesn't hold up well against plain paper output from the much pricier ALPS photo printer (The Photo 750's best output on coated stock is generally better than the best of either Alps or HP, however.) We haven't done any comprehensive benchmarks, but the 750 is faster than the Photo 700, and on par with the Photo EX (via serial connection). Color rendition is very good, although it is not intended to be a proofer or a comping device, and it ships with ColorSync 2.01 drivers, which is a longstanding problem that Epson needs to address. - -------------------------------------------------------- See my photo pages at http://members.xoom.com/cyberplace/ - ------------------------------------------------------- Most people HAVE to use a PC.
