Not to mire down the list with more postings about dumb old lens caps,
but-
THANKS to those who had suggestions about fixing the front caps!
Steaming was quite effective in two cases. Clearly, there are many
good ways to fix the really bad ones- I did coincidentally, find a
nice material to use if your cloth gripper is shot. Forget the felt-
the answer is less than a foot away from you! Take a mousepad of the
rubberized variety and cut yourself a strip and adhere with suitable
adhesive. You will have to trim or sand it to proper thickness. This
material grips like mad against the metal.
Once you invested several hours ;) cutting, finishing and
gluing,(like me) you'll have a nicely fitting cap! Then, you can stick
it in your closet, or wherever, and beam with pride knowing that if
you really ever got hard up, you could sell that leica cap for what...
say- at least forty bucks!

Best to all,

        Chris

P.S. Where is there info on upcoming meetings of LUG members. It would
be such a pleasure to meet everyone.
