It can't be true, because that is just plain wrong. Modern Photography 
tested it and said it was the closest lens they'd ever tested to their 
$1,500 APO testing lens. Not sure what that means, but the point is well 
taken. In that test, in the early 80s, it was the best enlarging lens back 
then that existed.
