Subject: [Leica] Noctilux info requested
From: Zeissleica@aol.com

Hi all...

My non-photo asset liquidation sale has been moving along much better than I
thought possible. In addition to having my M3 serviced by Sherry, I am now
anticipating I will be able to purchase a used Noctilux within the next
several weeks, much earlier than I had initially planned.

I am interested in the Noct f/1.0 (1st version) and my questions are as
follows:

- - Looking in my Hove book, are there any problems with the earliest 1.0 (1st
version) lenses (as in the beginning of the production run in 1975 - 1976)? I
want to avoid the "new model car" issues, where problems are discovered and
addressed in the later production runs.

- - If I had a choice, separated by just a couple hundred dollars for the same
reported equipment condition, should I go with the more recent (5 to 10 years
or more) lens?

- - Would the newer lens contain newer coatings or any other construction
measures I should be aware of? I know of the newer ones (1994 2nd version)
with the built in lens hood and feel those are still a little pricey for me.

Any and all comments are welcome.

Thanks!
