At least, that is the sentiment among all of us who shared each other's company and fellowship this past Saturday. Francois, Bill and I were delighted with the level of enthusiastic participation and response to the presentations. Many thanks go to Bill Bivens for his outstanding and humorous dissertation on the fascinating evolution of Leica screw mount bodies throughout the WWII era. Grace Taylor absolutely floored everyone with her beautiful B&W photographs taken in Central Mexico. And Sal DiMarco embodies the spirit of a contemporary photojournalist who has been there, seen it all and shot the photo on the tee shirt! Even more thanks and appreciation should be given to all who were in attendance. Many of you travelled a considerable distance (two were from the NY city area!) to attend. We hope you found the trip to be worthwhile, and we hope to welcome you back to D.C. again this year. Francois will be posting about the "Shootout" web page soon, so that we can share the juried results of the afternoon venture to the National Cathedral and the National Zoo. Thanks again to all of you who helped to make a real life event evolve from our cyberspace community. It is life-affirming to meet and befriend the human beings who share a passion for fine photography, especially that made with a Leica. I look forward to continuing our friendship. Mike
