Alan, That sounds like a very good idea. But I think my point is that what testers are determining what standards are being used to say a lens is good or bad? I'm sure Leica, Canon, Nikon, etc., Erwin and some others are good and worthwhile testers. But when someone here says he shot two cameras side-by-side, that doesn't mean his/her test is any more valid than the eye of a professional who's been at this business for 40+ years who after much time with a camera or lens, says that he prefers one over the other. That isn't relevant for me, where standardized tests help, but to ridicule him/her as a making a valueless statement, especially when the accuser knows nothing about his/her background is beyond the pale.
