There are many quite revolutionary designs
being studied at Leica Solms. However, Leica
makes their lenses to be more than specs on paper,
refines the designs, tests in real world situations,
gets critical input from experienced professionals,
then has to "industrialize" any new design,
which can mean f-a-r more than setting an automatic
production machine or group of machines,
Leica forever being so quality control minded.

Then, ASPH, as such, is not a panacea, and the current
Leica-R 35mm lenses are excellent products you can trust.

Expect quite a lot of changes for the next two years
from Leica, not necessarily only lenses.
A high end high tech projection screen is not impossible:
I propose PRADOLUX® for its trademark.

Generally, it's evolutive, but you'd be wise to check
the German Patents Office regularly, if you want
a closer insight with the secrets of the Leica gods,
if they use the Leica brand to identify those
new technical and scientific breakthroughs.

There's also a good camera show in Europe this month:
perhaps is some of the new stuff ready for introduction?
Or at a Cologne/Bonn area Markt Fest event come Spring:
who knows? Leica on one side, high end sailboats on the other...

Camera firms NEVER discuss their new products
until they're already to go out the door, quite often.
Leica teases their customers with a 6 month
"snooper's inside view", sometimes.
Otherwise, it's wait and see.

Sturm und Drang, is it ?
