Subject: [Leica] 50/2 R and Flare

My 50/2 Summicron R has flared dramatically on several occasions. The problem
occurs when a light source, like the sun, was just above the top of the frame.
It puzzled me since none of the Leica M lenses I've owned were prone to flare,
and the 50/2 R only flared badly a couple of times.

The only R equipment I have is a 50/2 and an SL body. I noticed recently that
the meter cell on the SL sits right below the film gate, and it's somewhat
exposed. I'm beginning to think that the flare may have been caused by a strong
light source reflecting off of the meter cell. Has anyone ever run into this
issue?
