Pascal,

The Passport Warranty offered by Leica USA does not cover theft or loss. It
is a three year warranty which covers the normal defects in workmanship and
accidental damage from normal use. This would include dropping the camera or
lens, dunking in water, driving the car over the camera bag, etc., but not
theft or loss. Believe it or not, I have heard of all of these things
happening and Leica has covered them under Passport warranty. As long as you
have pieces to send back to Leica USA, they will repair or replace the unit.
To some people this is not important, to others it gives tremendous peace of
mind. This is the best warranty in the business, but you still need your own
insurance policy to cover theft or loss.
