Kevin,

My recommendation would be for the Sekonic L308B meter.  It's tiny (about the
size of a deck of cards), gives both incident and reflected readings (although
no spot attachment possible), and meters for flash both with and without cord.
Runs forever on a AA battery.  When you turn the meter on, it gives you a
reading on the battery strength.  Good for checking out questionable loose
AA's you may have around  Also carries the Tom A seal of approval.
