Subject: Re: [Leica] M6 HM Serial Numbers... Short!

My black M6 has a number outside of your range. It is1917569. It is
obviously the oldest M6 known to this group! I bought it brand new less
than two years ago (!) from an official Leica agent in Hamburg, Germany. I
got about 25% off the list price because it was a 'demonstrator' and 'a
couple of years old'. I called the Leica factory asking them when it was
manufactured. They said it was 'approx. five years old'. I guess they knew
better. However, the camera was spotless and came with a full two year
factory guarantee and the original box. As I not only have a car with a
starting crank, but also a motor bike which I kick start (BMW 75/6), I am
not worried the M6 is old, but I do keep a spare battery as it has no
equivalent to the starting crank/kick starter.
