I removed(four screws) the rectangular glass window on the bottom of
the viewfinder and tried to clean it with lens cleaner and then
alcohol.  Looks great, like clear glass, when it is wet but it dries
translucent.  No wonder I had a difficult time focusing this morning.

So I figure some chemical has etched the glass window turning it from
clear to translucent.  I probably can remove the thin glass entirely
which will expose the Visoflex mirror from above but it is
normally(when a lens is not attached) exposed to the air from the
front so the unit is not sealed anyway.

Wonder where I could buy a new window?    Dale
