First shot would have benefited from the moon being in the trees at just the
right spot. Otherwise it is a nice photo.

Second shot looses detail in the lower left quadrant and therefore offsets
beauty of the upper right sky and sillohuette of boulders against said sky.

IMO it is just the subject matter. Tough material and difficult to get the
projector lamp effect to come through the scan. Try other scans with some
more of your material and post it for us.
