Subject: Re: [Leica] minilux or hexar

Since recent posts have suggested other P&S type
cameras other than the Minilux or Hexar, might I suggest
a camera that might be of special interest to Leica folks.

The Olympus 35 RD was made in the 70's and as such
perhaps is not a "P&S" type camera in today's sense
of the phrase. It does not have autofocus, pop up flash, etc.
But it is still relatively smallish, is a manual focus rangefinder,
and has a very very nice 40mm F1.7 lens. Its kind of like a
Leica CL but without an interchangeable lens. If you can find one,
they usually go for about $100. I picked one up off Ebay
recently and decided to let the local Olympus service center
give it a CLA -- so I havent' had a chance to use it yet.
But handling it was a pure joy -- VERY bright rangefinder
and shutter priority AE or manual exposure.

The following URL has a nice write up about this camera
and some pictures of it:
