I'm not an expert, but I do have a "Leica Accessory Guide, 2nd edition" in my
hand. 

Here's your problem:

14351 is a +1 diopter for M cameras made after 1987 (with rubber
reinforcement).

Your M4-P is most certainly older than that.  The proper  +1 diopter for that
camera would be 14362.  I don't have an M4-P nor an M3 at hand, but I imagine
that this diopter lens will fit both bodies.
