It's the Leica collectors, not the Leica users, who have arbitrarily
assigned an air of illegitimacy to non-German-made Leica items.  Some of
the greatest Leica lenses ever produced came out of Midland; in fact most
of the lenses from the late 60's through the 80's were made there.  The
fact that they are shunned by collectors and also that they are
plentiful, keeps their prices just low enough to lure innocent neophytes
into Leicadom ; )
