I've seen pictures of people getting >up close and personal photographing wild animals and it makes me cringe. I know what you mean. I once got out in the middle of a buffalo herd on an Indian reservation. As I was standing there with the fellow who tends them, he told me that if they start acting aggressive to run for the fence. Which was about a 1/2 mile away! :-0 He was joking. He said they wouldn't be any problem, as long as I don't make any untoward moves.
