I think the difference here is your repeated reference to newsgroup.  I (and
I think many others) don't think of this as a "newsgroup". I have tried the
REC.PHOTO... newsgroups a number of times and left each of them very
quickly.  As a lurker for the last 2 or 3 years, I consider the LUG more
like a family gathering where the one thing we have in common is our
interest in Leica, but we are also interested in each other as people.  I am
concerned that Eric has to go job hunting, I am thrilled that even though I
had to cancel my attendance at Ted's Cape Cod workshop, Leon is going to
send me a tape so I can see a bit of what went on. I was a member of the
Photoforum on Compuserve for 12 or 13 years. I finally left because very few
of the people I enjoyed were left. I still miss hearing their words of
wisdom.  Every time I use my 150mm Schnieder enlarging lens I think of Mike
Johnson.

This Users Group should always be primarily about Leicas and Photography,
but it is also about the people.
