As far as an integral grip on the Rapidwinder, Tom has indeed been considering
it.  He says it is entirely possible to do, but he has yet to make a final
decision.  If he gets enough feedback from the LUG to do it, this may push him
over the edge.

Perhaps it would be best to wait until he gets back from Hong Kong to bring up
the issue with him.
