Martin,  
  Perhaps to sell more product?  For all those that do convert, there are many
more that do not.  Strikes me as the ability to sell more lenses to those that
probably would not inveset in the whole system might not be all that stupid.
They are only taking the risk of not selling one body with the potential of
selling more lenses.  Thus giving the world another alternaitve.
Just my .02 of course - ain't America great?
