Subject: [Leica] Unusual Lens

A local dealer has a 35mm f/2.8 Rodenstock lens with an M adapter. The lens
appears to be coated, but minimally so (not multi-coated). Aside from a
couple of dark specks (one shaped like a doughnut about 0.5 mm in diameter)
behind or on the rear of the front element, the lens appears to be in good
condition. Consignment price is $400 US.

Has anyone seen or heard of such a lens? How would it compare to a Leica
lens? What effect would the specks have on picture quality? Does it offer
fair value (either as a usable lens or as a collector's item)?

Thank you.
