In my experience the three dealers mentioned below are all exemplary. 
Tamarkin is the largest of the three (I have the feeling Mr. Chatterton
and Mr. Kuehl are both one-man operations...could be wrong, but they
always answer the 'phone themselves) and they are all *class acts*.  
Another excellent dealer specialising in strictly used Leica is Woodmere
Camera in suburban NY.  The proprietors Eddie and son Richard Tillis both
know their Leicas and they grade their wares fairly on the basis of
cosmetic appearance whilst also clearly delineating any optical or
mechanical flaws, and I've heard from others that returns have never been
a problem; however I've never had the occasion to return anything.
