I was traveling a few years back and got a call from my wife saying her brother had given her a camera to give to me because he didn't know how to use it. It had belonged to their grandmother. After messing around with it and determining that it really was way too frustrating, he gave it to his son to sell at a garage sale. I think the price he put on it was $50 or thereabouts. Some knowledgeable person took one look at it, said he wanted it, and that he would be right back with his money (bad move on his part). For some unknown reason, my 12 year old nephew decided he didn't want to hang around and wait and went home, still in possession of said camera. So my brother in law decided I should have it because I liked old stuff like this. So I asked my wife what kind of camera it was. She said she wasn't sure but she had it right there and she would look. It was an M3 (international speeds) with 50mm collapsible, meter on top, and case. No leather on the film door on the back but otherwise in truly excellent + condition. Being the nice guy that I am, I explained to my brother in law what it was, what it was worth, and offered to give it back to him. Nope. Not interested. Happy for me to have it. Still do. It was at a local junk auction not yard sale, but late in the evening they held up and old "leeke or leek-i" or somethin' ...well $25.00 later it was a IIIB, 35 Sumaron, 50 f2 Summarit and 90 Elmar and multi range finder in a hard leather case about 5x9x6...the 50 turned out to be shot, and the camera needed a good CLA (which John Van S did) and now works just fine and lives at my house. Now if I could find an M6 like that.......... tom
