However, I had two different winders and a trip back to Leica and it still didn't work all of the time. I purchased the winders in hopes the motor drive would be out soon. During the past several weeks there have been several postings about R8 problems. If you recall Leica has made changes in the contact pins when a customer sends them back for repair. One posting that I recall, the changes that they made were significant. It's a shame because it is a real work of art. There are occasions that I do not use my M6 and I use my Nikon F4. It never breaks, solid as a rock and does what I want it to do, however I really don't enjoy using it as much as the Leicas. Perhaps Leica is working on a replacement and that is the reason they have really "dragged their feet" in bringing a motor drive to market. Bob Bedwell << I just saw an advertisement (Shutterbug?) where Leica USA is offering to lend an R8 to people to try. Pictures made with the R8 can then be entered into a contest conducted by Leica. Doesn't sound like things are going too well with the R8.
