Last week I visited Venice to give a presentation.
This is a perfect place to make some nice pictures.
Among all the tourist however, I saw no Leica at all!
Instead at a window shop I saw beside a Leica MD-2 a green Leica R3-
electronic with an also green 1.4/50. Is this something special ?

All these tourist traps like Venice have been photographied by a ton of
cameras. There is nothing to shoot (photograph) except the crowd.
Where are Leicas ? They work, Sir, they work hard. For instance, in the
last Leicafoto, there is a very interesting portfolio with B&W pictures
made with a R8 by a german photograph, Guenter Bersch, ein "Ossie" (= from
the late DDR).I saw some weeks ago, on TV (Arte, an european network
dedicated to culture), a reportage on him. Very, very interesting indeed. I
saw how he works, how he meets people. I saw a visit to Solms in the holy
factory with the interview of a craftswoman who worked before at Pentacon.
I saw Leica Camera spokesman von Zydowitz ("Zydo") who comments Bersch's
pictures.
After this one hour of clever TV, my impression is very positive : good
pictures are the result of an active photographic behavior enhanced by a
Leica gear.
