I took it off and have not tried taking pictures with it on. The front element is very recessed in the Noctilux, and a filter when mounted looks like it may interfere and cause vignetting. Remember the Noctilux only vignetes when used at F1. With a filter it may vignette all the time. The Noctilux is the king of gathering light in the shadows where other lenses loose the detail because of flare. I assume using a filter may just compromise this excellent flare supressing properties of the lens.
