<<<<<<<<<<<I don't know if the same can be said about Leica R. I am
currently
using the N brand and am ready for the surperb line of R lenses but R
bodies are not ready for me. I checked out the R6.2 at my local dealer
and like one Lugger said, the mirror is not that well damped. I like
the R8 but it is huge for what basically is a manual advance, automatic
aperture camera.

If Leica was to release an all manual entry level camera the size of an
Olympus OM4 for under US$800, I will be the first to buy it along with
the 100/2.8 APO. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

I am preparing to go over to R but find the opposite RE the bodies. Nice,
small, everything where it should be control wise. Try going from your
EOS1N to your A2E or from your F5 to your 8008 and you've got totally
different travel requirements for your fingers. The R compatibility was
something i enjoyed while shooting with OM stuff and which is attracting me
back to the Leica camp. And if you really line the R6 up alongside the OM4
you will see that, at least in length they are not all that different in
size. I may be off by a few mm's but it was the way the R's felt in a shop
that had me thinking back to my OM days. Yet, as I posted earlier, this
attention RE mirror vibration has me slightly curious. So far now 2 people
have reported the R6 firing with such force that I'm reminded, perhaps
hysterically, of my school days using a Pentax 6x7. Aside from the R7, do
ALL R's have this fault? Again, I shoot table top with my N90 (no MLU) and
need only a good tripod and timer to produce, using exposures up to 3
seconds, sharp results.

I have had several Nikons with MLU and never used it for long term exposure
stuff. Are Nikons ''better damped''?
