Subject: [Leica] Intermediate Speeds

I was glancing through the instruction book for my M2 and noted that
intermediate shutter speeds are available with the exception of between
1/8-1/15 (which seems reasonable because that's where the separate slow
and fast speed mechanisms divide).  The specifications for the M6
stipulate that itermediate shutter speeds are unavailable.  Does anyone
know at what point/model during the M's history that intermediate speeds
were omitted?
