This thread has listed some fine
fine lenses, and missed some others.

However, it is the combined effective performance
of the entire system that matters.

For almost any work that involves holding
the camera in your hands, the M cameras
have an advantage simply because they
are not SLRs.  A Mamyia 7 has a similar
advantage, but is huge by comparison.

If you are going to use an SLR (lots of
good reasons to do that) Leica R's
are fine cameras, but there is some
real competition from Canon and Nikon.
Note that Canon's IS lenses can yield
a startling edge in the achieved sharpness
of hand-held images.

I find for any work that requires carrying
the camera in a bag, the M6 works best
because my shoulder allows me to actually
carry it in the bag....
