Adjust the height of the column to the height of your enlarging board - using a handle at the top of the column. Lock the knob. 3. Put a film in the negative holder, raise the enlarging head to the max magnification position. 4. Do this in total darkness, put fstop to f2.8, adjust the focus so the image on the enlarging board in focused. Now your enlarger is setup for autofocus for that enlarging board. You should see that the image is focussed for all magnifications. If not-check the alignment between the lens' cams and the head. Now you can enjoy all the long hours messing about in total darkness.
