I've been looking for the past two days for the story and am unable to find it on the AP wire as carried at the NY Times site. There was a story there about VW and Mercedes, but no mention of Leitz or any other optical manufacturer. Nor have I heard any such mention in a number of radio reports, including a quite extensive story on NPR. As this is a touchy subject around here, it would be nice to lay the story to rest as apocryphal, or get more details. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us [mailto:owner-leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us]On Behalf Of Afterswift@aol.com Sent: Tuesday, September 01, 1998 3:22 PM To: leica-users@mejac.palo-alto.ca.us Subject: [Leica] Slave Unit Fellow Leicaphiles, I call your attention to the following AP article published on the AOL Today's News channel.
