It had an aperture scale on the adapter mount that simulated aperture settings for the meter. The 14167 was for the use of Viso lenses on the Leicaflex SL and SL-2 or the Leicaflex standard. It looks like a plain extension tube, but contained a null cam to set the cameras meter in a "neutral" position so that meter readings could be taken in the "stop down" mode, i.e. at the working aperture. Later 14167 adapters sometimes were marked with and asterisk 14167*, and were fitted with the proper null cam to couple to the meter in the R series cameras (R-3 - R-7) to allow for the proper stop down (working aperture) meter measurement with these cameras. The 14167 can be readily fitted with teh proper R cam. Without it, there is no reliable meter function with the R cameras. Mike Swiek
