My question to you number mavens is: > can I make such an assumption, and are there more authoritative serial > number listings out there which may be consulted? There's a webpage dedicated to the Leica M3, and one of the sections has serial numbers (see the whole table, by point your browser towards http://www.geocities.co.jp/Technopolis/2276/no_table.html). According to this table, no. 985752 was manufactured in 1959. I believe that this table is similar (or identical) to the one at the *back* of the Leica Pocket Book by Hove Books. Good luck with your M3. It sure is one lovely camera. M. - -- Martin V. Howard, Application Systems Laboratory, | Dept. of Comp. & Info. Sci., Linkoping University, | Just DOHH it!
