The Gitzo carbon fiber tripods work very
well (I have 2, love them both.)
There is also a carbon fiber mono-pod,
key feature is that it's about 1/2 the weight
of comparable aluminum mono-pods.

As for heads, Gitzo's are, at least
in my opinion, awful.

Get an arca-swiss or similar head.
Put arca-swiss plates on your gear.
Fumble less, curse less, be happy.

Best arca-swiss plates I've seen
are from really right stuff.
