...Our story thus far - Purchased above lens in Amsterdam. Had it 5 weeks.
It fell apart (well, the aperture ring disengaged, etc. ). Managed to
determine that the dealer in Amsterdam was an authorized dealer. Spoke to
the folks in Solms. FEDEXed the lens to Leica USA on July 2...

...The computers in Jersey were down for three days, but Leica USA tells me
now that they have examined the lens and will repair it. They say they will
bill Solms, and that I should have my lens in about two weeks.

...And the check is in the mail. :)
