George,

With large format/multi format enlargers you will find there are seperate   
condenser systems for each film format, (35mm, 2 1/4", 6x9, 5x4) and you   
should ensure you are using the correct condenser system. You state that   
the one you've got is '54something or other', this suggests to me that it   
might be the system for 5"x4" negs...

If you can find a '35something or other' condenser system then things   
should improve.
But light fall off in enlargers is very common, it largely compensates   
for lens light fall off in the camera system and can therefore pass   
un-noticed.

Subject: [Leica] OFF-TOPIC -> Condenser help

I was printing some 35mm b&w negatives earlier today and experienced some
serious light falloff problems at the corners.  I wonder if anyone can
help.
Could there be something wrong inside the condenser head ... like a lens
out of position or something?
