Hi

For decades, the 50mm fixed focal length lens was the standard lens in 35mm
photography. It was commonly the first lens which people bought together
with their new cameras. Many people never ventured beyond the 50mm, and
countless memories spanning more than one generation were often recorded
with that one lens. The 50mm, in its various forms, are usually very
sharp lenses.

When I travel, I usually bring along just one lens - the 50 Summilux. It
has the right balance of weight, speed and performance which I require.

In my opinion, any newbie would learn lots about photography if he has the
discipline to limit himself to using just the 50 mm lens for taking all
sorts of pics (and without using flash) for at least one year.
