Subject: [Leica] M6 Shutter Release

Greetings, everyone.

Just picked up a nice chrome M6 to use with my Canadian 35 2.0 Summicron,
so thought it would be a great time to join the list. Have already seen a
few familiar faces here from other venues...

I previously owned an M4-2. Currently, most of my SLR work is done with
Contax. I had let the M4-2 sit around for a few months unused, and went
back to it for a couple of days. I had forgotten how simple and easy it was
to use! But it also made me wonder why I used the Leica so seldom, and I
realized it was the hassle of having to carry a separate meter. Upon this
realization, I took it and a few other goodies down to Wall Street Camera
and ended up with a very nice deal on a factory demo M6.

I see I am going to love this camera! But I find it has one idiosyncracy.
The shutter release needs to be pressed very far down when taking a photo,
so much so that I have to lift my finger to a very high angle. It feels
quite unnatural. I asked my wife and child to try, and they had less of a
problem, perhaps because my fingers are larger.

Does anyone else find this to be a problem? Does anyone have a solution?
I'm thinking of getting one of those release buttos that screw into the
shutter cable release, but that seems kinda tacky on a Leica. Although it's
funny--Wall Street had another Leica with one attached.
Regards,

Denton Taylor
