I was using my M6 last night and got it with the Noctilux, Tmax 3200 @ 1600, and about 1/15th of a second. This feature is on most ttl meters, I think the R series even blinks a symbol when you are out of the meter reading range. Put the lens cap on your R series and see what you get. Athough with SLR's it is obvious the cap is on, on the M6 the cap causes total darkness which is beyond the sensitivity of the meter and the leds flash.
