I've been using one for almost a year now (Pilot and Palmpilot II), and it
works perfectly. I use Smartcode's HandStamp software to connect to my
local ISP. It's got filters and mailboxes so you can stash the Leica mail
separately and read it later. You can also set it to leave the messages on
your mail server so that if you also use a desktop PC you don't have to
maintain two sets of messages worth saving. Just be sure to get the unit
with TCP/IP protocol built in, and get the most RAM you can; the stuff the
LUG generates will overflow in no time at all.
