Rogliatti, for instance, says, "This glass -- and a particular type for each individual lens or element in necessary -- is researched and its characteristics determined by the Leitz optical laboratory. It is then produced in quantity by outside suppliers and the glass arrives in blocks at the factory where the actual manufacture takes place." Leica and Leicaflex Lenses, 2nd edition, p. 12.
