However, in looking at an R8 brochure right this minute, Leica would have me believe they did it all! I think this is no mistake on their marketing efforts. When they go on about "over 50 patents" or "melted according to specific Leica formulas" or "perfection made in Germany" and always showing a picture of a pot of red-hot smelting glass, it leads one to believe they do it all right there in Solms. I guess now, we know they are not lying, per se, but the truth has been stretched about as far as their unwieldy history. Does it matter? Bottom line, I'm happy with the equipment and with the resulting pictures I make. My two cents, Arturo
