Well...The basic purpose of this list often seems to be getting hung up on
odd and extremely arcane things Leica...But, the glass issue would seem to
be an important one, in that it may not matter whether Leitz did or did not
turn sand to glass, but it certainly matters what glass Leitz turned into
lenses.

This is really sort of an odd thing to get hung up on.

Glass is like plastic, brass or steel.  Surely nobody
cares whether Leica mined their own iron ore or drilled
for their own oil?
