Subject: [Leica] Tom Abrahamsson's Soft Release Prototype Trial
From: Jim Brick <jim@brick.org>

I just received, today, Tom's prototype. I have been using Fred Ward's soft
release since last October on my R7's and since February on my M6. My
daughter has Fred's release on her R7 also. Tom's release is very
substantial when compared to Fred's. Since I've only used Toms for a half
day, I can say that I like it. Of course using Fred's release has spoiled
me. Tom's release is actually easier to use because it is bigger. It is
also knurled on the edges for easy screwing-in. And out if you are not
careful. Fred's release is very thin on the top edges and perhaps less
prone to being accidentally unscrewed. I am, however, accustomed to always
rubbing my finger on the edge in the tightening direction, when not
actually taking photographs. This habit has kept me from losing Fred's
release, and will indeed keep me from losing Tom's release.

I would like to see Tom's release available in anodized black, to match the
top of my black M6 and R7. And chrome to match the top of my chrome R7.

Tom, you have a winner.
