Having put before you my Japanese photos [and thank you all for the helpful comments], I'm off to Western Australia. The light out "west" is clear in a way that is hard to believe. On this occasion, we are heading North and doing a one week 4WD tour of the continent down to Broome, where I will be learning a few Radiology techniques. Now I do not see myself as a good landscape photographer. In fact its a topic I've put no thought into at all. I have always just recorded the "scene". This group has helped me to improve my "street" and design techniques and I'm hoping for a bucket full of useful landscape tips. I note that some of you use telephotos. How? Why? What do you look for in landscape detail? Which films are favoured? How do you present your results? What times of day are best? Exposure tips? What printed resourses are useful? And would Jim please give me a review of tripods and stability issues. It must be at least 18 months since his excellent review, and I would have Buckley's of finding it in the files. Finally, equipment. I had originally planned to dust off the 'blad, but with the expansion of my Leica R stable, especially the telephoto side of things, I'm tempted to stick with 35mm on this journey and shoot lots of rolls. Do I need a polarizer, and if I'm to do B/W work, which colour filters are a must? TIA for the comments, notions, thoughts and insights. I continue to welcome critics of the homepage and its contents. So far the major negative has been that my people shots lack something in intimacy. I will keep working on getting some of that Tina feeling into the work, but please feel free to visit and send me any comments.
