Subject: Re: [Leica] M6 Battery Life

It may have been on the shelf too long, but lithiums (the single cell) tend
to have a pretty long shelf life. If you haven't used a M6 much, storing it
in a bag on end can cause the shutter release to rub against something, and
switch on the meter. It stays on while there's pressure on the shutter
release, and that can drain the batts. The only way around it is to store
the camera with the shutter speed set to B, or store it with the shutter
uncocked. Either shuts off the metering circuit, neither is very convenient.
