As most times in life, one should first ask: what do I do with them! When you project them with one projector with good automatic focus, good glassless mount are all you need. Gepe and Wess are good. Cardboard mounts may warp in time. And it is difficult to get the slides out. Always request that the lab puts the slides uncut in a sleeve. Does the projector not have automatic focus, or do you use more than one projector and slides need really to be aligned, Wess glass mounts are the only answer. Either the varity with one side glassed or the varity where both sides are glassed. Take anti newton, and don't wipe off the protective layer. That layer is important to transport any moisture direct off you slide when it gets hot. The best way to mount slides in these mounts is with an air compressor to blow away dust. A service bureau likes, for scanning, the slides without glass. Wess has glassless black mounts with register pegs on both sides, that stretch the slide flat. Think it is the AFX kind. Scanners love those. Buy a box, and you can use them over and over. Hope this answers your questions Alex - ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - ----- Sander van Hulsenbeek at work: sander.vanhulsenbeek@solvay.com at home: vanhulsenbeek@wxs.nl and also: http://home.wxs.nl/~sanderva/home.html
