Who designed and who manufactured this lens? Eric repplied: << This lens is designed by Leica and manufctured by Kyocera (Makes Contax lenses). This is supposed to be a great lens. The two aspheric elements probably play a big part in teh better image quality and lower cost (fewer lens elements needed to make corrections if there are aspheric elements). >> I own this lens and love it. It produces sharp, contrasty images with very little linear distortion, the least of any zoom I have ever used. More importantly, perhaps, it also gives that Leica "look." The lens has engraved on it designed by Leica, made in Japan. It is not the same formula as any other zoom, ie from Zeiss, and contains eight elements, one aspherical. Will von Dauster
