products dating back at least to the start of M cameras? >>

Bud, I have three books to mention for your consideration:

1) Leica M Compendium by Eastland. This books discusses all of the M bodies
and the lenses that were current when the book was published in 1994. There
is much intersting useful and intersting information. There is also
discussion about certain accessories and such matters as "seeing with the
camera." There are some good photos in the book and some that you would find
in your wastebasket. The production of the book is rather poor. Some of the
photos show dust spots and worse. Still, it has useful information.

2) Leica M Photography by Bower. This book is about the same quality as the
Eastland book. There is useful and intersting information about the M cameras
and lenses. Some of the photos are good (a couple are really good) and some
are pathetic. There is also discussion regarding such matters as choice of
film. These discussions are very basic.

3) Identifying Leica Camera by Sartorius. This is by far the best quality of
the three books, but it only deals with identifying various Leica cameras. It
does this very well and provides excellent technical information.
