I think there is no question, but I suppose how you want to use it might
make a difference.

The R8 is a much better camera than the R7, but I used to have an R7 and
loved it. If you use flash much at all, there is no competition. Fill flash
with faster films is really a big reason for 1/250 flash sync, as well as
shooting sports. 

And you can get a demo R8 for around $800. I think the additional $700 to
$800 would be worth it over a good used R7.
